Clear writing delivers bottom-line benefits. - Business Communication

This article was written by an American Business Writing teacher who taught at Harvard. I think you might enjoy the idea of Plain-Talk in writing, but I also know that it would be very hard for you to be the only one in the office doing it, if your current corporate culture uses, shall we say, "long form". ;)

Americans are leading the way with simplifying English writing, spelling and changing the grammar rules. The British probably hate this, and we Canadians are somewhere in the middle on the issue. My personal opinion is that we should try to be as clear as possible in writing, which means simplifying it all where possible. Having said that, we still need Business English templates for use at work, and with those expecting 'formal writing'.

Enjoy the article.
